Day Six, Orford to Swansea

Today we tried out a new cable material to get Chris's and Charles's boat steering working better, it was some heavy gauge cooper wiring, the wire worked fine but as Chris found out about 1km out the old fishing tackle that had been used to complete the previous days running repairs, only had a limited stress level... end result was a quick rethink on how to attach the wiring, all while being rocked around by a rather big chop.

Once we over come the issues with the steering the rest of the day was pretty easy going, as we paddled past some truly spectacular coastal cliffs and stunning beaches -- our first taste of what the East Coast has in store for us.

We had a great stop over at a little camping ground about 14kms shy of Swansea, were the campers dug deep and showed us great hospitality.

Our ground crew had some adventures of their own as they attempted to catch sight of us at Pontypool. A very helpful farmer assisted them in their efforts as he guided them over his property to the waters edge, but we had already passed by.

This was one of our longest days so far at just under 60kms, so the beach at Swansea was a very welcome sight indeed.

Heading out from the East Coast Resort.

Pontypool farmer's son makes a generous donation towards our cause.

Front of Charle's kayak about half way through our 60 odd km paddle.
