What is 1000kms4kids?

1000kms4kids is a annual charity event supporting Tasmanian Kids in need. Starting on New Years Day and running through until Australia Day (26th of January). Three paddlers will paddle sea kayaks (unsupported at sea) for a minimum of 1000kms – commencing at Cockle Creek and following the southern, eastern and northern sea boards of the island state of Tasmania (including a crossing of part of Bass Strait to Flinders Island) – covering at least 40km per day over the 26 days of the event.

1000kms4kids is a not-for-profit event, with all money raised during the event – in 2010 – going towards supporting the work of Ronald McDonald House Hobart and Cerebral Palsy Tasmania.

The running of this unique charity event relies on sponsorship from businesses and individuals in the lead up to the event. If you choose to sponsor 1000kms4kids during this period a tax receipt is available upon request.

For any potential businesses sponsors, a Sponsorship Proposal document is available upon request. The document sets out details about the event, the people taking part in the event, and the range of sponsorship packages your business can purchase. Our sponsorship packages have among other things, the benefit of allowing your businesses – in becoming an integral part of making this event possible – the opportunity gain public recognition of the fact that your generosity has gone towards enabling 1000kms4kids to run an event that supports Tasmanian Kids in need.

Without the continued support of our sponsors, this event will not be able to grow to meet its full potential, and our goal of raising $100,000 annually for children's charities in Tasmania, will be that much harder for us to reach.
