Day 6 – Port Sorell to Launceston

It was a very early 5 am start today as the plan was to make it all the way to Launceston, which would require Charles to cover over 80 kms!

The 18 km section from Port Sorell to Greens Beach was completed by 7.45 am, following a short break to take some fluids onboard and get into dry cloths, Teresa joined Charles for a 19 km run to Beauty Point. Once the run was over it was back into the water asap to ensure the tide worked to his advantage as Charles made his dash up the Tamar River.

With a total of 89 kms covered over 12 hours, you would think the only thing Charles would want to do would be sleep, but instead shortly after arriving in Launceston – at 5 pm! – he was lining up for interviews with the Examiner and Southern Cross TV.

During the interviews Charles issued a challenge to Premier Bartlett to both match dollar for dollar the funds raised during the event with a donation from the Tasmanian Government and also to join him for a paddle on the 25th of January.
