Day Five, Dunalley to Orford
When we returned to Dunalley to fetch our kayaks from some very helpful locals – Heath, Sonya and Smash (actual name unknown) – a surprise was waiting for us ... instead of a shark attack we had a dog attack, Bruno, the very friendly and still teething American Staffordshire Terrier had taken a liking to our kayaks, two hours later after some improvised repairs to both Charles and Chris's crewed steering cables, we set off through the channel.
We had a great paddle today with Maria Island to our right and the very spectacular coastal cliffs of Hellfire Bluff to our left. Just past the headland we meet up with 'local hermit', Mark Dunbabin who kindly took some great shots of us from his boat.
Today is our first night away from 'home' and our accommodation is the very pleasant East Coaster Resort, we would like to specially thank Ron who kept an eye on the kids.
'Smash' chipping in – he also collected for us at the Dunalley Pub, top job mate!
Paddling off under the bridge at Dunalley
Great shot thanks to Mark, with his 'hermit's lair' in the background.
Toasting making it 1/4 of the way through our journey
